Church in Talks to “Regularize” Activities in China

Posted by admin on Aug 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

Church in Talks to “Regularize” Activities in China: “SALT LAKE CITY | 30 Aug 2010 | A series of high-level meetings between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) and an official from the People’s Republic of China is expected to lead to ‘regularized’ operations for the Church in China.

“It is important to understand what the term regularizing means, and what it does not mean,” Church spokesman Michael Otterson said.  “It does not mean that we anticipate sending missionaries to China. That issue is not even under consideration.

“The Church deeply appreciates the courtesy of the Chinese leadership in opening up a way to better define how the Church and its members can proceed with daily activities, all in harmony with Chinese law.”

For oyster clan, just another disaster in a series

For oyster clan, just another disaster in a series: “HOUMA, La. (AP) – As survival stories go, the Voisins have a gem: It goes back more than 200 years ago when the first members of their family to set foot onLouisiana soil weathered a monster storm in spectacular fashion, clinging to their porch while others were washed away.”

Voisin, 34, is part salesman, part student of history (he spices his conversation with references to Teddy Roosevelt and abolitionist Frederick Douglass). He’s part spiritual seeker (he was a Mormon missionary in Bordeaux, France) and part pragmatic politician (he’s on the Terrebonne parish council). And Voisin is a full-time Cajun who lives, breathes, loves, eats and talks oysters – he’s lectured about them on five continents.
